Backwaters of Dhom Dam

Although Dhom dam is closed to public a little ahead of it is the backwaters of the dam. This is one of the most beautiful spot around Wai especially after mosoons when the entire region turns green and the view is absolutely beautiful and also secluded.
The temple of Dholya Ganapati built in 1762 by Raja Bhoja is located along the Krishna River. The idol of the diety in the temple is carved out of a monolith, and is about 10 ft tall and 8 ft wide. The deity acquired its name Dholya Ganapati from its sheer massive size. The temple is made out of finished stone with a spacious  inner sanctum and a huge hall in the front. The rear part of the temple is shaped like a fish which proves useful in case of a flood as it protects the temple.
